Unfortunately, life kind of took over and although I'm grateful to say that I spent those years learning tons about essential oils, I didn't spend much time on herbs. This year, I finally began learning a little bit about herbs. I still have a long way to go; but, one thing I am very excited about is mullein. It's that fuzzy plant you see growing in the fields in the summer that eventually shoots up a rod of beautiful tiny yellow flowers. The whole plant is amazing, but today, I want to tell you one way in which I'm using mullein.
I think one of the coolest things about herbs is that anyone can use them. It doesn't take a genius to walk out to the field, pick some leaves, roots, or flowers, and put them to work. The tricky part is knowing how to use them. Mullein can be used as a tincture, infusion, tea, or oil infusion. Because of its amazing cold/flu, cough, and lung healing qualities, I decided to chop up the leaves and place them in olive oil to make an oil infusion.
Now, with the soothing and expectorant properties of mullein added to my Congestion essential oil blend, I have an excellent go-to product for any cough, sinus congestion, or lung irritant.
